Trademark Law
Trademark law protects a word, phrase, symbol or design that’s employed by an entity to identify its product or service. These laws protect against infringement and dilution. Rights in trademarks are gained by being the first to use a trademark in commerce or being the first to register the mark with the us Patent and Trademark Office. A trademark can be anything that can distinguish goods or services ( words, names, letters, integers, photos, shapes, colours, markers, or any combination of these).
A trademark’s legal protection is attained through enrollment. The first step in getting a trademark enrollment is to apply to the Ministry of Economy. It reviews trademark operations in conformity with original legislation and either entitlement or denies trademark enrollments. In the UAE, registered trademarks are defended for ten times. Registration can also be renewed indefinitely ( generally for ten times in a row) as long as renewal payments are paid on time before the enrollment expires.
